How well do you know your team?

At the BCMT Centre we focus on elements in team building and leadership in order to build a strong and efficient team.

We use a number of behavioral psychometric profiling techniques to support our business owner’s decisions about their people from interview through their employment lifecycle. This is important to understand because you have a cost in the form of the wage bills and associated benefits, NI, Tax and pension contributions, if you have already passed your staging date.  We want the team, even if its made up of only a couple of people, to work really positively for you in their performance and style.

Behavioural profiling can be applied to the job role and the person so we have a ‘square peg in a square hole’ approach. Did you know that you can build a business or department within a business, based on only three personality types?

All profiling stems from the work of Carl Jung (Granddaddy of Behavioral Psychology), so although the different techniques and instrument are broadly similar they can focus on different aspects e.g.  age of the business, people’s energies at work and skills. They can also focus on drivers such as how results driven, compliant and detailed they are or how outgoing, communicative and people orientated they are.  How they manage time or lead/supervise and how intelligent (IQ) they are. Teams can then say ‘oh now it makes sense that a work colleague works in a particular way because we understand why they are the way they are’.  The outcome is of course a strong and dynamic team that work well together.
At BCMT the principal, Suzanne MacDonald-Carr uses different techniques based on her psychological background and work at the London Psychological Institute to help you find out about these important elements for your employees. We can run DISC Insights profiles for your business, so email us to find out how it might benefit your team.

We are on a mission...

Last week The Business Coaching, Mentoring & Training Centre sponsored the Corporate and Social Responsibility Award at the EADT Business Awards 2017. We had some strong applicants, and narrowed it down to our three finalists – Breheny Civil Engineering, Elite Swimming Academy, and Suffolk Life. After much deliberation, Suffolk Life deservedly retained the award for the second year running.

We, at the BCMT Centre, are now on a mission to help more local businesses with their CSR practice so that we can see even stronger applications next year. We have adopted the CSR guidelines set out in ISO 2600:2010 and have devised various programmes to allow SME’s to present the elements of corporate citizenship in the wider business sense. Many businesses are already able to demonstrate a number of activities in the key areas; however, they may not be consciously forming a clear CSR strategy and operational practice. Our coaching programmes strategize, educate, communicate, and implement these into the everyday practices of the businesses which see this arena as an opportunity for growing their business.

We are sure that many of your practices fit in the ISO 2600:2010 already, and we can help you to evaluate your own activities and improve on them where necessary.

Our next Introduction to CSR Workshop is on 25th September. If you would like to find out more about the topics covered or to book your place (only 10 places available) please click here:

Group Coaching vs Face to Face Coaching

Group Coaching

Is provided via a number of programme options ranging over a period of time.
The programme is modular and takes the form of monthly group coaching presentation on a rolling set of themes interspersed by three monthly goal setting and business planning sessions to ensure that change is achieved in small manageable chunks.

The coach then conducts a telephone or skype call in between the monthly sessions to ensure that the business is on track with its implementation. Finance where applicable, is only discussed on the telephone or face to face not in a plenary session.

The programmes are for the following sizes of businesses:

  • Start Up and micro business  (0-4 employees)
  • SME’s  (5-10 employees)
  • SME’s (11- 25 employees)

Costs: From £150 per month per delegate

Face to Face Coaching

These programmes are designed for the SME sector and are normally, but not exclusively, for established business that have been trading for more than two years and may have between 0-250 employees.

They are bespoke and focus across the whole business at the same time; which may include development of strategic planning, market share, systems and team development as well as the development of existing and new revenue streams. The business owners often require development of the business structure, it’s management or leadership team, delegation and time management of team members and group dynamics.

These programmes are delivered on or offsite to one or more Directors.

Goals are set through planning sessions and then delivered over quarterly  programmes on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. The sessions normally last approximately 60 minutes. (Team members may benefit from attending a group coaching sessions in areas of the business model that are applicable to their roles and these can be conducted as training onsite.

It typically takes between 9-14 months to deliver a full implementation across the business, however, some business owners enjoy a quarterly learning goal and then a consolidation quarter before moving onto the next learning phase. Contracts are available from annual sign up’s, and the break clause is a one month notice period, which is always available.

There are two main bespoke programmes :

  • Weekly coaching
  • Bi-weekly coaching

Funding is available via The Funding Circle for the coaching progammes and there is also some other access to finance subject to status. Coaching is an investment and you will be able to grow your business faster, with external support when working with a development  or performance coach.
